If you’re fully satisfied with your life, this post probably won’t be of much help. However, if you got up this morning with that same old feeling of resignation and dread, listen up. You’ve got to do something to change. I’m not talking fifteen minutes of wistful dreaming and settling on, “Oh, that would be nice”. I’m saying, “Get your patootie off the couch (or bed, or beanbag) and do something about it!”
You know that feeling of longing you have in your chest every day? The one that makes you wish and wish and wish your life was different? That’s your soul trying to speak to you; your music dying to get out. And until you listen to it, you are going to continue leading a life that’s unfulfilling (and experiencing that eternal longing).
This might be hard to swallow, but you put yourself where you are today. Yep, you are the author of your life and your choices are your pen. That feeling of regret keeps surfacing because, on a subconscious level, you know you have settled. You acknowledge that you could have done things differently. You just didn’t have the courage or the patience or the will. The will that died years ago because you didn’t want to put in the effort. And every day, you grieve the death of that dream. Yeah, you know what I’m talking about.
But, it doesn’t have to be this way.
What if you could start fresh? I’m not saying that you have to quit your job, get rid of your material possessions and head out into the woods to live off the fruit of the land (although, you could add that to your bucket list). What I’m saying is, you can start fresh. And the first step is understanding that you do have control over your life.
Write it Down
Before wasting another precious minute on the mundane, get yourself a pen and something to write on. Spend some time pondering what you really want to do. You won’t have to think long. That dream has been knocking around inside your noggin for years. Write it down.
Now, tape it near a place where you spend the most time. For many, that might be a TV. (TV’s are dream-killers, by the way. More on that in a bit). Maybe it’s your computer area. Either way, get it into a place where you will see it every day, all day.
Have you ever actually asked for what you want? The next thing you need to do is send your desire out into the universe. Pray to God. Meditate. While you’re at it, visualize yourself right in the middle of your desire….as if you’re already doing it.
Now that you’ve thrown your desire out there, the next step is to believe. Annihilate those doubts when they surface. Those are just your self-protection sensors sharing with you. Thank them for their concern, but don’t give them any power. Instead, visualize yourself doing what you love.
This is the tricky part. Why? Let’s talk logic here. If your dream is to own your own business selling alien-antennae headbands, it’s not just going to poof itself into existence. You have to work for it. It will take hard work and persistence. And yeah, lots of time. But, the time is going to pass anyway. So, you can either spend it watching The Voice or WWE, or whatever your spend hours watching on the boob tube, OR, you can invest that time in your dream. The choice is yours. You can keep your dream in the grave, or you can bring it to life. TV’s are dream-killers. You can be a partner-in-crime, or turn vigilante.
Now that that’s out of the way…The core of receiving is this: You put in the time and effort and let the seed grow. Don’t worry how things will transpire. They will. Your dream-seed will flourish. Imagine yourself a year from now. Are you going to be another turd in the herd (sorry, couldn’t resist). Or, will you be on the way to realizing your dream?
