We’ve all seen the blogs, videos and advertisements about creating the life we want. By following this formula or joining that group and paying lots of your hard-earned money to someone, you can be on your path to living your dream life. Guess what, friends? I have one piece of advice for you and I won’t charge you for it.
Ditch your Plan B!
What? You mean it’s that easy? Yes, in order to really create your life by design, you have to stay true to your dream. You know, the one that motivates you, the one that gives you that funny feeling in your chest… like first love.
How can you REALLY make your dream happen if you already have a plan B in place? You have to get rid of plan B altogether. This will force you to find a way to make your dream happen. I’m not saying you have to quit your day job. That can come later. What I’m saying is you have to be a trail blazer, take no prisoners! Don’t get sidetracked by the promises of getting rich overnight. I mean, sure, you might make a few bucks by having plan B, but are those few bucks really worth the slow death of what your true purpose? Every minute you waste on plan B is like twisting the knife in your dream.
Still stuck on formulas? Okay, if you insist…
Start creating your life by design by doing this one thing. If you don’t already have your dream written down, stop what you’re doing, get a pen, write it down, and post it where you will see it every day. Destroy all evidence of plan B. (Why be reminded of the adulterous affair?) You’ve got to be committed! That’s how you’re going to make your dream happen, whether it takes a year or five or ten.
Did you know the number one regret of dying people is this… I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.
What are you waiting for?!
In closing, here is a quote from Will Smith’s latest movie, After Earth. It gave me chill bumps when he spoke these words:
“Fear is not real. The only place that fear can exist is in our thoughts of the future. It is a product of our imagination, causing us to fear things that do not at present, and may not ever, exist. That is near insanity. Fear is a choice. We are all telling ourselves a story”.
Ditch that plan B. Be true to yourself.
