Probiotics: A Flu Shot Alternative and Mood Enhancer

While picking up my son from school recently, I was informed that there was a nurse on-site giving flu shots.  In fact, the nurse was giving them to children’s parents, as well.  As usual, I declined.  The only vaccinations I allow to be given to my children are the ones required by law to maintain their admittance into public schools.  As for myself, I can’t recall the last time I agreed to a flu shot.  My decision to refuse the flu shot for myself and my son was confirmed when I discovered that 23 seniors died last year after receiving the flu shot from CVS, specifically, Fluzone.

Dangers of Vaccines

By the time I had my last child, I was aware of the dangers of mainstream vaccinations, and my youngest didn’t receive his vaccinations in the same way as his two older brothers…he was on a delayed vaccination schedule to reduce the chance of adverse reactions, including the risk of autism.  In 1983, babies received only 8 vaccinations by the age of 2.  By the time 2009 rolled around, babies were being given 26 by the age of two.  Every year hundreds and sometimes thousands of unsuspecting American children DIE from properly given vaccinations

In the United States vaccines enjoy complete immunity from lawsuits in the market place. If you are injured or die from a vaccine, you or your family cannot sue the manufacturer of the vaccine. This law enacted by Congress was upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court in 2011.

Probiotics

The decision to subject one’s self to the dangers of vaccines is a personal choice, but it’s one that I avoid whenever possible.  Instead, I opt for safer, more natural alternatives.  This year, I was happy to discover the benefits of probiotics.  A growing body of scientific evidence suggests that you can treat and even prevent some illnesses with certain kinds of live bacteria. Probiotics (from pro and biota, meaning “for life”) keep pathogens (harmful microorganisms) in check, aid digestion and nutrient absorption, improve mood, and contribute to immune function.

Kefir

If you’ve been hearing about the benefits of probiotics, but don’t know where to start, I will offer some suggestions.  I have been drinking kefir, which is available in the dairy/organic section of most grocery stores.  Kefir is a cultured milk product with a tart and even sour taste, similar to buttermilk.  Yogurt is a source of probiotics, the live organisms (including healthy bacterias) that are naturally found in our digestive tracts. These organisms help stem the growth of harmful bacteria and boost our immune systems. But kefir is an even better source of these helpful little guys — three times the source of yogurt.  There are also juices available that contain added probiotics, such as Good Belly.

Kombucha Tea

You may also want to try Kombucha teas.  Kombucha has a myriad of benefits such as improved digestion, mental clarity, and mood stability. As such, it’s noted for reducing or eliminating the symptoms of fibromyalgia, depression, anxiety, etc.  These benefits make Kombucha a great drink for victims of Narcissistic abuse.  It aids your body in recovering from adrenal fatigue and hormonal imbalance, and naturally improves your mood.

Where can you learn more about Kombucha health benefits?

Here are a few articles on the health benefits of Kombucha:

While these two probiotic beverages offer a multitude of health benefits, I have opted to use them to ward off illness during the winter season.  My five year-old loves Kombucha tea and goes to get it from the fridge himself.  Our favorite to date is Verbena Rose.

Thanks for these. I especially appreciate that you included photos. My memory for names is like a sieve. Can’t wait to try them!

I have concluded that vaccines are understudied and under-scrutinized. I believe that certain ideas can become entrenched in the medical community, so it’s best to do as much of your own research as possible.

There is mounting evidence that we should be more leery of the vaccine instead of the flu itself. I think the pharmaceutical scheme is all a big racket. Vaccines may have played an important role 50+ years ago, but today, they do more harm than good.

I, too, appreciate photos. I tend to be visually inclined.

I have been drinking Kombucha teas for a little over a month. I can say that I feel healthier and my moods are improved 🙂

The worst flu I ever had was in the last year that I had a flu shot.

no vaccines here either! It is interesting when you read about how we defeated illnesses, like polio. Then you find out we defeated it by changing it’s name, not by eradicating it! Don’t be flouridated- refuse vaccines! Thanks for your post 🙂

And thank YOU for stopping by and commenting 🙂

It’s really sad that, in spite of all the deaths and rising proof of how harmful they are, vaccines are still promoted.

No immunizations for me either. Certainly not for the flu.
