Thank you for the reblog, and my apologies for being so late with my comment. This is a crime when used against an ex, especially if there is a restraining order in place. These victims are usually coerced into the pics by a partner who wants to ensure that he has a good hold on her. As my sister tells others, “I was very young and relentlessly pressured into it to prove my loyalty to him. Then he used it against me to keep me in the violent marriage. He posted the pics the day I left him.”

Excellent post. I hate to sound old fashioned, but this is definitely a topic where the adage “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” applies. Any “intimate” picture or video is a potential liability in the Information Age.

For those who haven’t yet, don’t.

I agree – just don’t. I know that some abusers will demand, coerce or force but for those who have a choice, don’t allow intimate photos/videos of you to be taken. My soon to be ex husband asked repeatedly to photograph me nude and I always refused. Thank God I did because I know that he would send them to everyone I know. What a cowardly act.

I’m glad you listened to your inner voice. You are right. Had you caved in, you could have easily shown up on any porn site once the relationship soured.

And you are correct in saying it would’ve been a cowardly act. Those are the only kinds of acts they can pull off.
